Mission
The mandate of the Nidus Personal Planning Resource Centre is to provide education, support, and assistance to British Columbians with personal planning for the purpose of:
- Enabling adults, who need help with decision making because their capability to ‘understand’ is in question due to disability from birth, serious stroke, advanced dementia, etc., to use Representation Agreements (RA7) as a legal alternative to Adult Guardianship/ Committeeship. The RA7 Approach to Capability is different from the Traditional Approach and enables adults who have a cognitive impairment to get help without losing their rights.
- Enabling adults who are considered cognitively capable to understand at the time of making their legal documents (the Traditional Approach to Capability) to learn about legal planning tools in the event of mental incapacity due to future illness, injury, or disability.
