Make a Financial Contribution to Nidus

Nidus does not currently receive funding for core services. Nidus provides fact sheets, videos, website information and Representation Agreement forms – for the public, at no cost.

We rely on donations and modest fees-for-services (like the Nidus Registry) to pay core operating costs and provide the public with accessible, accurate, and current information.

When you donate online, you will immediately receive a tax receipt for income tax purposes.

Employer—Employee Programs
All employees are caregivers at some point – of a son or daughter with a disability, a parent with dementia or Parkinson’s, or a relative or friend who needs assistance.

Nidus provides an essential service to families and caregivers. Your employer can help you by helping Nidus. Provide Nidus’ charity number (BN 889408332 RR0001).

Does your workplace participate in a United Way fundraising campaign? You can designate donations to Nidus, even if Nidus does not currently receive a grant.

Does your workplace (e.g. Telus, CP Rail) offer contributions through Benevity? Your employer will match employee donations.

Ways your donation helps…

Your donation of any amount will help Nidus provide education and assistance for you now as you make your legal planning documents. Contributions also help your personal supporters in the future when they have to use those documents.

Nidus does not receive any ongoing funding to pay for core services and basic operating costs such as phone/Internet, rent, volunteer training and support, website resources, legal forms, replies to email questions.

Nidus is currently the only organization in Canada (and the world) that is devoted to helping the public learn about and make legal documents to plan for incapacity, end-of-life, and other support needs.

CONSIDER

  • A monthly donation.
  • A memorial donation.
  • Leave a legacy by designating Nidus as a direct beneficiary of an investment (TFSA, mutual fund) or by a gift in your Will.
  • Executors often have discretion to make donations and use the tax credits against the estate’s income taxes. This can be used in the year of the donation and some following years.

Thank you for helping Nidus continue to make a difference!

Nidus is very grateful to three recent donors who made donations in memory of family members in 2018, when settling their estates. The total of $20,000.00 was timely and made a huge difference to Nidus.

Nidus is a Latin term for nest: a symbol of safety, support and self-development.
